So today let’s explore the different brands out there, and what better to start out with than one of the most popular vacuum brands out in the market, Miele Vacuums. There is a reason why the name Miele is always mentioned when it comes to having quality and performance complimented with impeccable style.

Don’t be surprised that their vacuum bags are of extreme quality and technology that there is no question they are one of the top brands out there.
Miele’s unique designs allow it the vacuums to seamlessly transition from cleaning the vacuum to hard surfaces an easy task. Equipped with many different accessories and tool holders, cleaning around the house has never been this efficient. Most of the higher end Miele vacuums offer HEPA – certification filtration and this system is extremely beneficial for those prone to allergy and asthma because of the way the filtration is able to trap the fine dust particles known to cause those symptoms, combined with Miele vacuum bags you have the ultimate tool in preventing dust from entering back into the air.

Miele currently offers two types of uprights, the Universal Upright series and the Powerhouse Upright series. The Universal Upright is designed to excel in cleaning smaller homes and/or apartments and known for their fast setups. One of the prized features on the Universal Upright series is a handle with a telescopic function that gives it the flexibility to quickly adjust from cleaning at different heights. Depending on the vacuum you get (in which in later posts I will showcase some top named vacuums) you would have to get the corresponding vacuum bagfor it. But in general for the upright vacuums, the Miele vacuum bags are usually constructed with an complex weave of 3-ply polymer fibers that as mentioned before about the HEPA certification they have the ability to capture fine more smaller particles. More importantly the design allows the air flow to continually be at a high level even as the bag fills up.

How HEPA Filters work

On the other side of the spectrum we have the Powerhouse series and as its name suggest it gives higher suction power and top notch filtration system. It may be beneficial to know that this series is actually their flagship series and are always a top seller. The most crucial design detail to why this model is so popular is that while other vacuums allow air to go from the motor fan and then to the bag. Miele’s design redirects the air to bypass the motor fan and rather directly into the vacuum bags. What this does is without a doubt, prolong the quality of the motor fan!

I’ll be sure to mention some of the other products that Miele has to allow you to learn about more when you are looking for your next vacuum, more importantly they also have a line of premium vacuum bags, so stay tuned!

The ultimate duty of the vacuum bags is without a doubt to pick up the dust and dirt that a vacuum cleaner picks up, I mean its got to go somewhere. So let me give everyone a history class on its history

Old Vacuum Cleaner

In the 1900s a company out of Ohio called the air way sanitizer introduced the first vacuum cleaner to come with a disposable bag. Before them, everyone’s vacuum resembled those you take out on the fairway on a Sunday afternoon. They were heavy cumbersome machines made out of thick fabric, at first designed to be as flexible as possible and yet still trap the dust and dirt from the carpets.

The improvement made by folks out of Ohio when they introduced the disposable vacuum bags marked a huge improvement towards the effectiveness of the vacuum cleaner compared to its predecessor. The bag, made out of paper at that time, was designed to fit inside the pouch as designed during this period. Cleaning the vacuum itself was not a chore anymore and more importantly the insides of the pouch was kept clean do that dust and dirt would not be blown out of the vacuum and of course like mentioned before you wouldn’t want to disperse the dust back in the house! What’s the point of that?

At this time each of the big manufacturers’ all designed their own vacuum bags made out of a selection of different papers. The problem here was that they were no universal and cannot be switched from one machine to another, and to add to that the parts and configuration were all different for each of the vacuums. From here, it was through this idea, that they release they can for lack of a better term to exploit a new stream of business income by offering vacuum bags! Not only do they have to rely on purely just machine sales

Before, people who had their machines all it needed was a cleaning here and there and bringing it into the shop for servicing, or if you feel adventurous you could do it yourself. But because of this surge, repair shops began to spring up across the country
And of course by today, these repair shops have died down, however vacuum bags still have a market just for the fact that each and every vacuum has its pros and cons that you should consider when purchasing, going forward I will definitely mention and do some introduction and reviews on some of the vacuum bags and vacuum cleaners out there for you

Stay tuned!

I know this site is about vacuum bags, but like I mentioned I would like to also touch about the different vacuums out in the market, and like I mentioned about the rising popularity of the bagless vacuums I decided that I need to mention whether you should go bag or bagless?

I think the most common misconception about bagless vacuums is that people would automatically think oh my gosh, no more replacing vacuum bags this must be a good deal! Imagine the look on their face when they take their vacuums to the repair store only to find out that they need to change the filters on these bad boys. Getting a bagless vacuum would not save you that much money because in the long run the money you thought you had save is going to be going towards buying new filters! Funny thing is those people who don’t buy vacuum bags are exactly the people who are somehow anti filters too, and inevitably that leads to declined performance and downright dirty vacuums. The benefit from these bagless vacuums would probably be their advantage when cleaning pet hair, so if you are a pet lover this might be a good reason to consider a bagless vacuum, also considering that some houses that a huge volume of vacuum hair these vacuums can be very effective. Like anything in life, things wear and tear, these vacuums will still become filthy and filters MUST be cleaned and/or replaced depending on usage, so if you think about it vacuum bags vs filters, you are still pretty much spending the same amount of money in the long run. And I am assuming that you want to go through a few vacuums a year but rather have one that will last you!

Eureka Vacuum Cleaner

Just a personal opinion of mine is that, sometimes these bagless vacuums give me a very VERY disgusting picture of things people will suck up in their vacuums *shudder*, that’s just my opinion but vacuum bags just hide all the “surprises” so I can dispose of them in my own convenience without having to gag at the site of the things I see in these things. But like I said this is just my personal opinion remember at the end of the day you buy the vacuum hoping that it is doing its job, so choosing according to your most important purpose and then look at design and form.

I can’t stress this enough when I say remember you are not saving money on filters and/or vacuum bags, matter of fact treat these as maintenance costs like you do on your car, if you want to rely on it you must treat it with the right tools!

Happy Shopping!

Today I’ve decided to talk about canister vacuums and what they may be good for and maybe help you out on which vacuum to get and subsequently, which could help you out choosing your replacement vacuum bags. I can’t stress how important that is! (I will revisit that in another post, that and filters!)

First off canister vacuums usually “appear” to be quieter, I saw that with “” because designs are more or less the same its just that compared to say a upright vacuum, the sound from a canister is coming from behind you rather that right in front of you so you feel that it is quieter, which of course comes down to personal preference. Canister vacuums are actually more ideal for cleaning bare floors such as bathroom, kitchen etc. Even like stairs, in cars and those hard to reach places. The suction is good and of course with that kind of design it is more agile than a big upright vacuum.

Miele Canister Vacuum

I think no matter if you choose canister or upright or bagless (which I will talk about in a later post, since these are starting to get really popular but are they really that good?) it can come down to style and of course like I mentioned the usage. Canisters have a tendency to need more space, so if you are living in a 400 square feet home it may not make sense to have a large size canisters, but then again you wouldn’t have to replace the vacuums bags so often =P. Other than that of course there are different designs that may appeal to you more and some not so much, regardless of what you do I have to briefly mention that as with anything, if you expect it to work well

a) You have to use it properly

b) You have to maintain it properly and this includes taking good care of it and not do things like chucking it back into the closet!

c) Perform the necessary maintenance – like the name of this site, vacuum bags! You’ll be surprised as to how often this is taken lightly on top of that of course the filter, the belt and the assortment of parts.

I think I started this blog to really try to educate people to be aware of things that they should be paying attention and spending money on and things they shouldn’t and often it is sometimes something as small as vacuum bags.

Until next time

The first and most obvious thing to do when looking for vacuum bags is to make sure you find the right one for your vacuum! There are a ton of brands out in the market and yes some are priced more expensive than the other one for a reason. This blog would help you out with all the information you need to educate yourself on things such as when to replace, where to buy or even how to replace it! I will also be plugging in all things vacuum related so don’t be fooled by the URL I will talk about all things vacuums not just the bags!

So firstly I think I should talk about the importance of replacing your vacuum bags. I think often people have a misconception of vacuums thinking that they can just push the machine back and forth and assume that all the dust and dirt will just automatically be cleaned. You have to understand that vacuums are designed to operate on a certain way and dust and dirt took its sweet ass time to get into the carpet, a swift back and forth motion would not clean it instantaneous!! At the end of the day it’s still a machine and you got to let the machine do its work!

Ok first off let’s talk about the most common vacuums the uprights. These are now relatively inexpensive and can do a good job if used properly. Upright are usually easier to use, while canister vacuums need more time to setup. Other than that both of them operate in very similar ways. Their core function is to draw dirt and then proceed to blow them into the bag simple as that.

So what happens when the dust bag is full, obviously you would have to replace it, but to give you a real nasty picture envision this, in an upright model when the vacuum bags are full the vacuum is still blowing and what happens? The dirt and the air around it would still be blowing everywhere BUT the vacuum bags. So you may ask ok, in that case why I don’t just get those cheap low quality bags, well mainly because they don’t properly breathe right off the bat. The purpose of a vacuum is to suck in dust and dirt, not to disperse them around your home!

I think that should be enough today, I don’t want to scare you off too soon, be sure to stick around and I will drop more relevant information on vacuum bags!
